The Apprenticeships are in Auto Electrical, Maintenance, Tool Room, Fabrication, Paint and Initial Operations.

Say hello to Jade – #NAW2012

EDBS announced yesterday that as part of National Apprenticeship Week we would be using our social networking power for good and find our newest apprentice Jade a placement. Jade has joined EDBS at Novus Business centre for the week, so far this morning she’s met with the Chief Executive, created her new CV, and learnt all about Twitter (more from Jade on that tomorrow) and completed a number of admin tasks.

So now that we at EDBS all know Jade, we thought it was time you all got to know her better… so say hello to Jade!!

What Sarah Our Apprenticeship Consultant had to say about Jade

Jade is an ambitious and confident individual with excellent communication and listening skills. She has a strong attention to detail and takes care and pride in everything she does. She is reliable, trustworthy and has the desire to learn new things. She is interested in looking into apprenticeship opportunities, giving her the option to learn new skills in a work environment.

Jade is a great example of what an apprentice should be and would be valuable asset to any business. With excellent organizational skills a professional telephone manner, a business admin, customer service, marketing apprenticeship would just be perfect.

Jade has carried out work experience placements. Working in promotions and business development has enhanced her confidence in her own ability and resulted in her gaining numerous valuable skills appropriate to the world of work. Examples of tasks jades carried out – data input, management of receptions, and distribution of promotional material, arranging orders and providing information and support to clients.

EDBS’s where impressed by jade’s level of professionalism and commitment towards becoming an apprentice. Her desire to learn, strong communication skills and approachability are all key strengths any business will value.

Here at EDBS Apprenticeships we have set ourselves a challenge to find an apprenticeship placement for our newest apprentice Jade.

During National Apprenticeship week we will be using our social networking skills to reach out to local businesses in the hope of securing an apprenticeship placement for Jade.

Jade is a great example of what an apprentice should be and would be valuable asset to any business. With an excellent organisational skills a professional telephone manner, a business admin apprenticeship would just be perfect.

For the last Apprentice Wars Challenge the apprentices visited Caterpillar to try they hand a engineering. Using the state of the art facilities the team had to complete 3 engineering tasks including correctly connecting a electrical circuit and fitting part of a exhaust.

Today our teams were set a Marketing challenge by Real Radio to create a jingle for the breakfast show. After a quick chat about what they needed to do, the teams set about picking imaginary guests and competitions which included a sleepover with The Saturday’s and a interview with the stereophonics (The Boys) and a trip to the Maldives and a dinner date with Cheryl Cole (The girls). Next it was into the studios to pick the backing music and record vocals. To listen to the finish jingles click on the audio files below.

Apprenticeship Wars Day 3

Day 3 saw our teams visit City of Sunderland College’s Hilton centre to take part in a plastering task. The teams split into groups of two and while one half of the team worked on plastering the wall the other two created a decorative plaster mould.

Day one of Apprentice Wars and for today’s challenge we visited East Durham College to test our new apprentices skills at hair and beauty. Team Lisa ( Leanne, Louise and Chloe) and Team Gary (Matty, Peter and Liam) go head to head to find out who the best at curling hair and applying makeup.
